In charge of the weekly meetings of student government, he ensures government is productive and that information is conveyed to the principal and head of school. Having previously served two terms as Class Coordinator for the Class of 2028, Michael now partners closely with the President in overseeing all student government initiatives, and he leads his own projects as well. He previously served as Class Coordinator during his freshman year, making this his second year in government. This is her third year on government and she serves as the head of the Food Services Initiative. This year, she hopes to work on implementing new foods in the Coop, bringing new concessions to the field (like Ritas!), organizing Fun Food Fridays, and planning service learning in regards to food. He is an active member of the Student Life Initiative and hopes to strengthen community bonds as well as make the year as enjoyable as it can be. She joined STAR because she cares deeply about improving the academic experience for all students and ensuring that student voices are heard. Her goal is to advocate for greater transparency and consistency in areas such as standardized grading rubrics and open gradebooks, while working collaboratively with students, teachers, and administrators. As she is rising into her junior year, she steps into the role of elected class coordinator and leader of the Student Life Initiative \u2014 continuing her work work spirit week, MAGIC, and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Alan Katz&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div class=\"freebirdCommonAnalyticsTextResponse\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Alan is a rising junior who is serving as a new member of the student government. He works in the Student Life Initiative where he hopes to bring more fun events and to strengthen communication between students and school leadership. Outside of Gov, Alan is actively involved in athletics, journalism, and community service. He is a competitive swimmer, lifeguard, and writer for the school newspaper, Spectrum. I&apos;m involved with CoffeeHouse and some School Life projects as well as the Dialogue Initiative, but I mainly work on Assembly Reform. This is her third year on government, and her first serving as co-head of the Food Services Initiative. She wants to focus this year on making student government events feel like an intentional space for learning, while still providing fun experiences for the student body. Whether it be Fun Food Fridays, service learning events, or re-arranging the coop to student preference\u2014she\u2019ll make sure to get things done. She\u2019s incredibly excited to work alongside her fellow representatives this year, and can\u2019t wait to help create a more comfortable and connective space within the upper school!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Lucy Meserole&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lucy Meserole is currently a 11th grade student government representative at Dwight-Englewood on the Student Life Initiative. Through this initiative she seeks to build community and spirit at Dwight-Englewood and make school more than just classwork. Since coming to this school in 7th grade Lucy has loved being an active member of its community, participating in the sports soccer, basketball, track and lacrosse. She also has a passion for creating art and is currently in Advanced Ceramics. He is the head of the STAR Initiative, and aims to tackle major points of academic stress and student concerns this year, while also trying some other new ideas for the student body. For the upcoming year, Defne plans to continue to strengthen the fairness of academics at DE and strives to ensure that students\u2019 voices are being heard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Julian Dreyer&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Julian Dreyer is a returning representative for the Class of 2029. In his second year as a member of Student Gov and his first year as co-leader of the Innovation Initiative, he hopes to implement solutions to improve communication at our school through the Informant. He also hopes to work to unblock websites which may be advantageous to student learning and cannot be used currently due to WiFi restrictions. Julian is excited to work with his fellow grade representatives to ensure the Class of 2029 has the best sophomore year possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Konner Jiang&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Konner Jiang is a Student Representative for the Class of 2029 who is eager to be a bridge between students and the administration. As Co-Leader of the SEA Initiative, Konner aims to increase awareness and bring more opportunities for students to engage with sustainable efforts. He hopes that by the end of the 2026-2027 school year, Dwight Englewood becomes a place where sustainability is not only recognized, but part of an active and thriving culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Hudson Machuca&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hudson Machuca is a sophomore and a first-year member of Student Government. He serves as Co-Leader of the SEA Initiative. Hudson is very passionate about creating positive change and works to promote environmental responsibility, encourage student involvement, and raise awareness about important issues within the school community. Through the SEA Initiative, Hudson hopes to inspire students to take meaningful action and make a lasting impact. Outside of school, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with friends and family. Overall, Hudson strives to help build a more informed and engaged, and sustainable community for all students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Maya Radchenko&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Maya Radchenko is a 10th-grade Class Representative and a member of the Innovation Initiative. She hopes to increase communication and transparency between the student body and student government. Additionally, Maya hopes to strengthen the sense of community within the 10th grade by creating more opportunities for student involvement and advocating for the ideas and concerns of her classmates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_tab][et_pb_tab title=&#8221;Emma Yuan&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.16&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Emma Yuan is a 10th-grade Class Representative on the STAR Initiative. Through this initiative, she aims to improve students&#8217; academic experiences and well-being at D-E. This includes working to propose open gradebooks and standardized grading rubrics for all subjects. Further, Emma hopes to work closely with her fellow 10th-grade representatives and the dean to plan events specifically for their grade. I was first elected to be one of the Junior Class representative at the end of my sophmore year. During my first year in student government\u00a0I had the opportunity to accomplish a great amount of goals I set for myself. Together with my fellow representative Brett Laundau we were able to unblock \u00a0the social media outlet Snapchat\u00a0. On my first year of student government I also became the head of the Technology Initiative where we worked hard to implement charging stations throughout the school.\u00a0I also created the student government instagram page that will be used to advertise events throughout the year and help communicate news happening on campus. This year I have been reelected as a Senior Class Representative, I will continue to work and be the head on the Technology Reform Initative. I've worked on many initiatives since my freshman year including, gym attire, Student Workload and Assessment Guidelines (SWAG), Spirit Week, and Carnival. This year, I am the co-leader of SWAG and the leader of the Candy Cane and Rose Sale initiatives. I hope to continue working on the current exam schedule, and have successful sales this year.\r\n\r\n<hr \/>\r\n\r\n<h3><\/h3>\r\n<h3>Scarlett Diaz (Diazs@d-e.0rg)<\/h3>\r\nI am a junior, and this is my third year on Student Government. My main goal as the Vice President is to make sure that all initiatives are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I'm also working on creating a mission statement for Student Government, alongside our President, Jalen Watson. Currently, I run the Food Truck Initiative and am working on making sure that we bring in trendy and fresh Food Trucks more frequently and at more affordable prices. I'd like for this event to turn into a profit for SG, so that we can use that money to help other initiatives (ex. funding events\/Spirit Week) and to also donate to charities. I am also finishing up D-E's Bill of Academic Rights, a document that will put new workload rules in action, help improve communication between students and teachers in terms of grading, and alleviate stress overall. On Student Government, my main motive is to change and improve student life. I am on the FLIK initiative, which I am very passionate for because I care about how the school food is. I am also working on other initiatives that will benefit overall student life. For example, last year, I was able to get Instagram unblocked on the school wifi. This year, I plan on working more with the school lunch service to make the dining experience at D-E better for the students. I want to help as much as I can in my current initiative, Food Trucks, while supplying ideas to Student Government that could be potential initiatives in the near future. In my current position, I have been looking for possible Food Trucks to work with. However, while finding a Food Truck is not hard, choosing one that suits the standards of the majority of the school may prove to be difficult.
