Letter from the Secretaries-General

Hello and welcome to the third interscholastic DEMUN conference! Ever since joining our

school’s Model UN team, we have always aspired to host our own conference, and with the

success we saw last year, we are so excited to see what delegates will be able to accomplish this

year! We have three committee offerings: one General Assembly (Legal), one Specialized

Committee (White House Situation Room), and one Crisis (Squid Game), which will be run by our

incredible Secretariat, who have worked tirelessly to organize this two-day conference.

This conference is meant to simulate what it is like to be a diplomat, as each delegate will become

a global citizen through researching their nation or character’s positions and learning throughout

the committee. We seek to foster an environment where diplomacy and respectful discourse are

paramount. We look forward to every participant stepping outside their comfort zone because

Model United Nations is an activity where the development of creativity and confidence is crucial.

All delegates are encouraged to raise their placards to speak during every moderated caucus and

collaborate with students they have never met before. While Model United Nations is an

intellectual exercise, it is also an opportunity to build personal and professional skills.

If you have any questions prior to the start of the conference, please contact your chairs (if your

queries are regarding your specific committee) or contact the secretariat at demun@d-e.org. Once

again, we are so excited to be hosting this in-person conference and cannot wait to have you all

here!

Best,

Your Secretaries-General: Max Koppelman and Gabriel Rhodes
