Meet the Team

Hi – I am Aly Calmas and I am a Senior at Dwight-Englewood! This is my fourth year doing Model UN, and while I have participated in a wide variety of conferences I do have a special love for Crisis. It is an honor to serve as one of your Secretaries-General for our first inter-school DEMUN conference. I look forward to hearing about all of the exciting and substantive things you discuss in your committees and hope that this conference is the first of many that DE will have the pleasure of hosting after I graduate.

Hi, I’m David and I am a Senior with four years of Model UN experience. I am excited and honored to be one of your Chairs this year. I have a special interest in history and geopolitics, keeping up with current events frequently. MUN has definitely helped me out a lot on public speaking when I first started, and I hope it will improve your skills too. I look forward to seeing you all research your countries thoroughly and present unique solutions during committee. I cannot wait to meet you all in October.

Hi – I’m AK Poneros, a Junior at Dwight-Englewood and currently Secretary of our Model UN team. This upcoming year is my third in Model UN and through my participation I have learned valuable lessons about diplomacy, international relations, and public speaking. I am extremely excited to be the Chair for the DEMUN Crisis Committee as I am a big fan of the Maze Runner book series and movies. Creativity is key in this committee so use it to your full advantage. I am looking forward to seeing what you all bring to the table come October!
