United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA)

The Prevention of Space Militarization & Equitable Development of Space Technology and Research

The United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) is an office of the United Nations dedicated to the fair and equitable use of space resources alongside unified development of nations’ space programs. UNOOSA also acts as an administration and oversight body, maintaining a catalogue of all current objects launched into outer space, and providing guidance on international laws regarding space. Another important part of UNOOSA is its sustainability mission, which includes the reduction of space debris and environmentally appropriate waste disposal measures for objects in space. UNOOSA is certainly one of the most interesting offices of the UN to explore, as its purview may rapidly expand in the years to come.
